How to Use the PDF to Word Converter
- Choose a direction: PDF → Word or Word → PDF.
- Select your PDF or .docx file (it stays on your device).
- The tool extracts the text and rebuilds it in the target format.
- Download your converted document.
What converts well, and what does not
A PDF stores the position of every character rather than an editable structure, so converting to Word means reconstructing that structure. Plain, text-heavy documents convert cleanly; complex layouts with columns, tables and wrapped images usually need some tidying afterwards.
Scanned PDFs are a different case: they are images with no selectable text, so there is nothing to extract without OCR. A quick test is to try highlighting text in the PDF; if you cannot, it is a scan.
When to use PDF to Word
Convert when you need to edit the words: updating a contract, reusing text from a report, or fixing a typo in a document you no longer have the source for. For simply viewing or sharing, the PDF is already fine.
If your goal is the opposite, turning a finished Word file into a locked-down PDF, the Word to PDF direction is far more reliable because you are going from structure to layout rather than the other way around.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will my formatting be preserved exactly?
Text content is preserved reliably, but exact layout, columns, images and fonts may be simplified. PDFs store visual positions rather than editable structure, so perfect one-to-one conversion is not possible in any browser-based tool.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Both directions run locally in your browser, so your documents never leave your device.
Which file types are supported?
PDF (.pdf) as input for PDF → Word, and Microsoft Word (.docx) as input for Word → PDF.
Can it convert scanned PDFs?
No. Scanned PDFs are images with no selectable text, so there is nothing to extract. This tool works with PDFs that contain real text.
